Passport Types & Fees
Step-by-Step: Apply Online
- Register: Go to passportindia.gov.in → Create an account
- Fill form: Apply online → Fill the passport application form
- Upload photo: Recent passport-size photo (2x2 inches, white background)
- Pay fees: Online payment via debit card/credit card/UPI
- Book appointment: Select your nearest PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) and available date
- Visit PSK: Carry originals + self-attested photocopies. Biometrics are taken at the PSK.
- Police verification: Happens after PSK visit (1-2 weeks)
- Receive passport: Delivered by Speed Post (15-30 days normal, 1-3 days Tatkal)

- Proof of Date of Birth: Birth certificate, school leaving certificate, or Aadhaar
- Address Proof: Aadhaar card, voter ID, utility bill, or bank statement
- Photo ID: Aadhaar, PAN card, or voter ID
- Old passport (for renewal)
- Passport photos: 2x2 inches, white background, recent
Tatkal (Urgent) Passport
- Processing: 1-3 working days after PSK visit (vs 15-30 for normal)
- Extra cost: Rs. 2,000 additional over normal fee
- Police verification: Post-issuance (passport is issued first)
- Limitation: Address must have supporting proof of 1+ year at current address
