Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) is India's second busiest airport. With two terminals that look nothing alike, knowing which one you need is crucial.

T1 ↔ T2 Transfer

  • Distance: 5 km apart (NOT walkable)
  • Free shuttle: Runs between T1 and T2 every 20-30 minutes, 24/7
  • Time: 15-30 minutes depending on traffic
  • For connections: Allow 3+ hours minimum if changing terminals
  • Auto/Uber: Rs. 100-200 between terminals

Getting to Mumbai City

  • Metro (Blue Line 1): Airport station → Andheri/Ghatkopar → connect to other lines. Rs. 20-60. Fastest.
  • Prepaid taxi: To South Mumbai (Colaba/Fort): Rs. 600-900, 60-90 min
  • Ola/Uber: Rs. 400-700 to Bandra, Rs. 600-1,200 to South Mumbai. Surge pricing common.
  • Local train: Walk/auto to Vile Parle or Andheri station. Rs. 10-15 to Churchgate. Fastest to South Mumbai during rush.

  • T2 (International): GVK Lounge, Plaza Premium, Encalm
  • T1: Limited options — Above Ground Level, Plaza Premium

Food & Tips

  • T2: Excellent food options — Indian, international, Starbucks, duty-free
  • T1: Basic options — eat before entering or grab at Subway/McDonald's
  • Mumbai traffic warning: Western Express Highway gets jammed. Allow 2+ hours from South Mumbai during rush hour.
  • Night flights: Mumbai traffic is MUCH better after 10 PM. Night flights = easier commute.
