Shimla and Manali are India's most popular hill stations, but flying directly isn't straightforward. Both have tiny airports with limited flights. Here's how to actually reach them by air efficiently.

Our Recommendation
For Shimla: Fly to Chandigarh (IXC) + 3.5-hour taxi (Rs. 2,500-3,500). This is the most reliable and practical route.
For Manali: If Kullu flights are available (check IndiGo), book them. Otherwise fly Chandigarh + 8-hour drive/Volvo bus (Rs. 800-1,200).
Fares to Chandigarh
- Delhi to Chandigarh: Rs. 2,500-6,000 (45 min flight)

Best Season

- Autumn (Oct-Nov): Clear skies, golden forests. Best for photography.
- Winter (Dec-Feb): Snow! Solang Valley skiing. Roads can be closed. Flights to Kullu often cancelled.
