Seat Selection Help

Everything you need to know about choosing your seat on domestic flights in India

How Seat Selection Works

Most airlines offer seat selection during or after booking. Options and pricing vary by airline and fare type:

  • Free seat selection — available on some premium fare types at booking
  • Paid seat selection — ₹200 – ₹1,200 depending on position and flight
  • Auto-assigned — if you skip selection, airline assigns at check-in
  • Web check-in selection — some free seats open during web check-in (24-48h before)

Seat Type Guide

Window Seat (A/F)

Best for: Views, leaning against wall, sleeping. Not ideal if you need frequent restroom visits.

Cost: ₹200 – ₹500 extra on most airlines

Aisle Seat (C/D)

Best for: Easy restroom access, stretching legs, faster deplaning. Popular with frequent flyers.

Cost: ₹200 – ₹500 extra on most airlines

Extra Legroom / Exit Row

Best for: Tall passengers, comfort seekers. Emergency exit rows have restrictions (must be 15+, able-bodied).

Cost: ₹500 – ₹1,200 extra

Front Rows (1-5)

Best for: Quick deplaning, business travellers. First to exit on arrival.

Cost: ₹300 – ₹800 extra

Tips for Getting the Best Seat

  1. Book early: Best seats go first — select during booking for maximum choice
  2. Web check-in: Free seats often open up 24-48 hours before departure
  3. Avoid last rows: Near toilets, seats may not recline, more engine noise
  4. Families: Select seats together during booking to avoid separation
  5. Business travellers: Front-row aisle for fastest deplaning
