Power Banks on Flights — What's Allowed & What Gets Confiscated

Power banks are allowed on Indian flights — but ONLY in cabin baggage. Put one in checked luggage and it will be confiscated. Here are the rules.

The Rules

  • Cabin baggage: Power banks MUST go in your carry-on
  • Checked baggage: NEVER put power banks in checked luggage — they will be removed
  • 🔋 Limit: Up to 100 Wh (approx 27,000 mAh at 3.7V) — no airline approval needed
  • 🔋 100-160 Wh: Allowed with airline approval (most laptops are in this range)
  • Above 160 Wh: Not allowed on any flight
